ABOUT TSL051
College Study skills (TSL051) is one of the non core subjects that Im taking in TESL Foundation course. My respective lecturer for this subject is Miss Shanaa Fatihah Mohd Abu.
In this subject I have been taught about survival skills in college life.

ASSIGNMENTS
Me and my course mates have been assigned to three major assignments in this course. The first assignment is completely an individual assignment. Meanwhile, for the second assignment, it is a group assignment. As for the third assignment, it is divided into two which are individual and group assignments.
The first assignment is called Reflective Journal Diary or we call it Social Media Diary. In this assignment, we will be posting and sharing our thoughts, ideas, and opinions on the social media according to the topic given. This assignment is for public display where we use our existing social media accounts and our followers can read it. As a person who lack of self confidence, I found it hard at first to just do as required. The fact that I have to record myself and write some postings which will be viewed by my mutuals are my weaknesses. Im often insecure about my postings that is why it feels like a weight being added to my shoulders when Miss Shanaa first introduced us to the assignment.
But after few attempts, I finally get comfortable and able to complete the task given. Truthfully i kind of miss the tension of figuring a good content to be displayed on my social media though. So here is my social media diary from week two until week 8.

QUESTION:
How you are also trying to improve on your time management and state Why it is difficult for you to manage your time.
ANSWER:
Assignments, online class and a little mix of daily routine are a curse for a person with such terrible time management skills. on the second day of online class, I have made up my mind to finally take control in my time management business as I cannot seem to cope with overlapping tasks anymore.
So what I did I do to overcome my time management problems?
Firstly, I have started to plan my daily to-do list. At first, I underestimated this plan as I know that I’m not that type of person that is consistent enough to obey the to do list. But after some time doing the to do list plan, i personally think I have more time to spare and Im starting to love the journey of using it.
Last but not least, I started waking up earlier than I used to. I will wake up as early as 4 in the morning and will start doing tasks in my to do list. the earlier i woke up, the better I feel because I have free time to do other non priority task, for instance, house chores. I can feel a massive positive change in my mood too!
Why it is difficult for me to manage my time?
Firstly, I did not set a boundaries. To be clear, I often say yes to plans that are not contributing to the success of my academic because I’m afraid I will offend anyone. Setting boundaries is indeed important, yet, I cannot practice what I preach.
Next, I often tend to confused between priorities and non priorities. For instance, I will complete a task that is due next week but neglecting the task the is due tomorrow. maybe the fact that at the same time, I tend to underestimate how long it will take to finish a task.
In a nutshell, as a human being with a 24 hours time in hand, it is crucial for us to realise the importance of time management so that there will be no difficulties in the future.

ANSWER:
18 years of living, I can say that my life plan often change, according to my passion and of course my state of well being at that particular moment. Having a lot of changes in life plan does make me feel puzzled sometimes. But as I get older, my vision gets clearer.
At the moment, I do have life plan in mind. It have been a constant life plan since I was 16 and I will and I can make it come true someday.
The life plan that im talking about is my plan to be an educator, specifically, an English teacher.
I’ve Never imagined myself being in this state of mind, being so determined to achieve my goals in my way to make my life plan come to life. To be honest, I have a very timid courage and often question my capabilities to succeed but I guess it’s different now.
The reason why I chose this life plan is because I am inspired by my former English teacher. She have shown me how great you can influence people to do better in their life if you have the right channel to cultivate it, for instance, a teacher inspiring his/her students.
Being an educator indeed is not an easy matter, of course. Even though I do not have any experience but I understand their struggle. But in the end, their effort will pay off, with the student’s achievement.
Other than that, I personally think that another behind reason why I chose this life plan is because I have this enormous dream which is to be able to uplift the life of people in my state, especially those in rural area. Even though it is a very long journey ahead of me to achieve that, the feeling of being able to be help people makes my heart calmer indeed.
Last but not least, the reason why I chose this life plan is because im indebted with both of my parents. This is the least I can do to repay their effort and deeds through out 18 years of me living. They have always supported me in everything that I do, including taking TESL foundation. The ability to make my parents proud of the life plan that I will achieve makes it even eager to achieve it.
To conclude, I will try my very best to be the best version of myself in my way to achieve my life plan and will do anything in my will power to achieve it.

ANSWER:
In this modern era, a lot of advanced access to knowledge have been proposed by time such as online blogs. It is indeed convenient and most likely chosen methods by the younger generations nowadays. But yet, we cannot deny the fact that library, which is a manual way to obtain information is equally useful, in fact, it is important for scholars like me, especially when it comes to academic study.
The resources that the library provide are authentic whereas the content are verified. This enable me to look for my studying material when it comes to academic study. It is indeed true that there are a lot of online resources but the information that are provided may be false, or the worst case, plagiarised. Moreover, I can simply ask the librarian for the finest research material that they have in store, this will ease my progress in looking for the right material. it is important for me to look for the best content related to my research, so that is why library is crucial for me. It benefits me in getting the accurate information and in spite of the fact that it helps me in reducing the amount of time used for my research process.
Furthermore, library is important for me in my academic study because library offer a pleasant environment and this sets the mood for me to study peacefully. The tranquility cannot seem to be find in other places that people usually go to do their revision, for instance coffee shops. The silence allow me to be focused on the studying that im working on. It helps me to centre my attention because there are no distractions and unnecessary noise around.
In a nutshell, scholars and people who are seeking for the best resources offline and place to study should make their way to the library without any hesitation.

QUESTION:Take a picture of your own lecture notes. Explain the method and the reasons you used it in preparing in the caption of the picure.
Im using different ink colour of pen for my notes too. For instance, as you can see here, blue inked pen for the example notes, and the black inked pen for the explanations.
I will also be using highlighters to make the important part of my notes stand out.
Fourthly, I’m using mind mapping strategy to simplify the extended notes that have been given to me by the lecturer. Using this strategy, I’m able to determine which one is the important points and which one is the side points in the chapter that I’m studying.
Last but not least, I will jot down extra notes that are being said by the lecturer beside the main notes that I have done earlier. Who knows I might need the extra notes in the future, right?
Taking notes in a lot of ways enables me to be creative in expanding my notes for better understanding.
ANSWER:
Ever since in high school, im always invested in doing my own notes whether before the teacher starts teaching, during the learning session, and even post learning. Being a university student makes me realise that I need to be even creative in doing my lecture notes as every session I attend will be in a fast pace.
Before our learning session with the lecturer starts, the lecturer will give us the slide show the upcoming lesson that we will be learning soon. This gives me a head start as I can do my notes regarding the slide show given before an actual class begin.
As the class begin, im able to jot down additional notes besides the main notes that I have. This gives me clearer view of the topic that is being taught by my lecturer.
For the title of the chapter that im studying, I will write them in capital letters and will design adorable border so that the moment I look at the title I will have the will to revise my notes back.

ANSWER:
Determining your learning style is crucial as it will enable you study effectively. My favourite learning style is solitary (intrapersonal) learning. That makes me a solitary learner.
What does solitary learner mean?
According to www.time4learning.com, solitary learner alias intrapersonal learner is someone who prefers learning unaccompanied.
One of the reason why I chose this learning style is because it enables me to think and process information throughout my learning process in my own pace. I said so because I’m most likely to be nervous in group discussion as the conversation becomes lively. Being a shy person in a group discussions is hard because shy people tend to be left behind as they are unable to express themselves, speaking from my own experience.
Other than that, im choosing this learning style because I love silence when im processing my thoughts, especially when I’m studying. this allows me to focus and even generate brilliant thoughts related to my studies.
Last but not least, I prefer choosing solitary learning style because it enables me to be independent in studying. For instance, looking for study materials on my own. in my opinion, the process will not delay as everything that I do for my studies is according to my time line.
To conclude, the most effective learning style for me is solitary learning.

My learning progress here in campus is totally a new experience for me as I never been in a boarding school before. It is a very challenging but fun experience at the same time!
Even though most of the classes are being held through online, but being in campus makes my learning progress better because I have my peers around. If there is any difficulties that I’m facing in my studies, I can refer to them straight away. The communication between me and my peers is clearer because we can talk face to face. Not to forget, I can run to them whenever I have problems with my internet connection during online classes. This can avoid me from missing any class session.
As for life experience here, I have gained abound of life hacks and knowledge that I never knew I needed. Events that have occurred to me throughout staying in campus have built my personality, especially when it comes to dealing with people.
I experienced a lot of enjoyable moments too! I have strolled around campus a few times with my friends and it was a very exhausting walk but a fun one! As my campus is known for it’s broad space, I have got the chance to take some pictures for my own keeps, just in case I miss it one fine day.
The atmosphere here in my campus is one of the things that I will not forget once we move to another campus. The serenity made me feel like im homed, even if I am thousands kilometres away from my actual home.

Post your views on the importance of having IT skills for students and the impacts of it on you now and in the future.
ANSWER:
Living in this modern era requires so much skills as the demands change by time. For instance, due to the pandemic that occurring, most of alma mater have to find alternative way to provide the students with education, regardless where the unfavourable condition.
One of the alternative is by using modern technology which is called Information Technology (IT). Truth to be said, there are a lot of flaws with learning using technology but we have to admit that it is important for us to acquire the skills in handling it.
In my opinion, the importance of having IT skills for students is because it can make our educational progress easier. it is even convenient and less frustrating to keep track and be focused in our studies if we are able to operate the medium used, which includes IT. In additional, IT skills are one of hard skills that is crucial for students to acquire as it will be used frequently in the future, either for further studies or in a working field.
The impact of having IT skills for me now is that I can have an even effective study progress as most of my assignments and assessment are done using platforms such as google classroom and schoology.
Meanwhile, the impact of having IT skills for me in the future is that, i can have a better opportunity in getting job. it is one of hard skills that being observed by employers these days, according to indeed.com.
To conclude, having IT skills is indeed crucial and one should acquire it as it will benefit a lot in many ways.
The second assignment is event planning assignment which is a group work. In this assignment, we are required to plan an event. Unfortunately we are unable to actually organise the event in real life. For this assignment, my team mates and I have decided to plan a charity run event. PERSONAL REVIEW FOR TSL051 AS A WHOLE
College Study Skills subject is indeed my go-to subject. The subject is a really chill subject where we actually gained additional information, not only regarding english. Miss Shanaa have such youthful characteristic and that makes it her easy to approach. Miss Shanaa if you're reading this I just want you to know that I listen to Ariana Grande too!
