FUNDAMENTALS OF ACADEMIC WRITING (TSL 024)
ABOUT TSL024
Fundamentals of Academic Writing (TSL024) is one of the core subjects that Im taking in TESL Foundation course. My respective lecturer for this subject is Madam Nur Natasha Eliana Abd Rahim.
In this subject I have been taught about college writing alternatives in mastering the process of writing different type of essays.
THE LEARNING PROCESS
For semester 1, I have been introduced to plethora of topics such as:

Summarising, paraphrasing and synthesising

The writing process

Structure of an academic essay

Revising sentences, paragraphs and essay

A 5-paragraph essay
ASSIGNMENTS
Me and my course mates have been assigned to do two major assignments in this course.
Our two individual assignments were Assignment 1 and Assignment 2, both for opinion based essay. In assignment 1, we were assigned to do the outline for our opinion based essay. Before we even start assignment 1, we were asked to choose one theme from five theme displayed. The themes are:

Literature

Tertiary education

Happiness / Self satisfaction

Animal rights
-
Corporal punishment
After we have decided our theme for the assignment, we were required to come out with a specific topic regarding the theme chosen. I chose the theme 'corporal punishment' and my topic is 'Corporal Punishment Should not be Normalised in Educating Children'.
Then, we are required to spread our own survey around regarding the topic chosen to get the feedback and opinions of others about our topic. During this specific task, I have given the survey to those 15 people who I believe have a wide range of thinking skills. This enables me to get amazing opinions and it undeniably eases my work. PERSONAL REVIEW FOR TSL024 AS A WHOLE
I must admit that Im scared of Madam Natasha at first because she is a very strict lecturer. But as time passes by, the bond between us and Madam Natasha improves. I really love how she often gives us extra exercises and willingly answer our question regarding writing subject regardless how silly it sounds. This subject is still one of the hardest among all subjects but Im trying my very best to ace it.
This is during our last class for Fundamentals of Academic Writing (TSL024) with Madam Natasha. She gave us mini love!
